When George Floyd was murdered, the shit hit the fan. Covid was in full force, and Trump was being Trump per usual. The vitriol between power structures and the factioned citizenry was spilling out into the streets! I’ve always considered myself a revolutionary, but now I’m a 55 year old revolutionary sitting at home, watching most of it on TV feeling lame. I was searching Craigslist one day during the demonstrations, and saw a small bronze sculpture of gen.lee for sale for $20. I thought wow, I know what to do with that. I got it for $10, and proceeded to pour my angry energy into recreating a small sculpture of the evolving scene at the soon to be Marcus David Peters Circle- the former home of the re lee sculpture lording over the citizenry as a vehicle for the Jim Crow Eras’ objectives. Game On!
